Machchafushi Island Resort & Spa Maldives, The Centara Collection

Unsere Familie war vom 01. bis 14. Oktober 2017 im Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa und wir haben dort eine traumhafte Zeit verbracht. Obwohl wir zum Ende der Monsun-Zeit in der Anlage waren, hatten wir ausgesprochen gutes Wetter: ein paar kurze Regenschauer, ansonsten eine angenehme Brise mit Temperaturen um 31 Grad. Als Unterkunft hatten wir eine Sunset Ocean Pool Villa gebucht. Diese können wir nur jedem empfehlen, denn jeden Abend den Sonnenuntergang im eigenen Pool zu genießen und tagsüber direkt von der Terrasse in der davorliegenden Lagune zu schnorcheln, ist ein wahres Erlebnis. Die Villa selbst war sehr geräumig und absolut sauber. Abends kamen wir erwartungsvoll „nach Hause“, denn das Housekeeping hatte sich für uns täglich eine neue Bett-Dekoration ausgedacht. Vielen Dank an MODE, wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt. Die gesamte Anlage ist äußerst sauber und aufgeräumt. Die sandigen Wege werden regelmäßig aufgelockert und gereinigt. So hatten wir das Gefühl auf Watte zu laufen. Durch die überschaubare Größe der Insel sind alle Angebote gut und schnell zu erreichen. Nie hat man das Gefühl, die Anlage sei zu voll. Im Gegenteil – es kam uns so vor, als ob wir uns die Insel nur mit ein paar wenigen Personen teilten. Die Sport- und Unterhaltungsangebote sind vielfältig: Katamaran-Segeln, Tretboot-, Kanu-, Bananaboot-Fahren, Parasailing, Schnorcheltouren. Die Guides vom Sportcenter machen ihren Job mit viel Enthusiasmus. Sie sind immer freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Dies bekamen wir besonders bei einem der tollen Ausflüge zu spüren, die das Resort anbietet: Auf der Walhai-Tour nahmen sie unseren 9-Jährigen im Wasser an ihre Seite, so dass er die Tiere aus der besten Perspektive sehen konnte und ihm diese unglaubliche Begegnung mit Natur unvergessen bleiben wird. Ihr seid ein tolles Team! Auch die geleiteten Schnorcheltouren sind professionell und persönlich gestaltet. Die Tauchschule selbst haben wir dieses Mal nicht genutzt, aber von anderen Gästen nur Gutes darüber gehört. Die Anlage besitzt 4 unterschiedliche Restaurants: Das Reef-Restaurant ist ein Buffet-Restaurant. Hier gibt es internationale Speisen – allerdings eher im Hinblick auf den Geschmack der asiatischen Gäste ausgerichtet. Für ein schnelles Mittagessen war es für uns ok. Am Service gab es hier nichts auszusetzen, das Personal war sehr aufmerksam. Das Thai-Restaurant können wir ebenfalls empfehlen. Besonders wenn man draußen sitzt, hat man eine wunderschöne Atmosphäre im Schatten. Das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft und das sehr aufmerksame Personal ließ keinen Wunsch offen. Das italienische Restaurant ist besonders schön, wenn die Wände hochgezogen sind und eine leichte Brise durch das Restaurant weht. Hier waren wir leider vom Service enttäuscht. Die Mitarbeiter waren längst nicht so aufmerksam, wie wir es von den anderen Restaurants kannten. Das Beste zum Schluss: Als Gast in der Sunset Ocean Pool Villa konnten wir automatisch auch „The Club“ genießen. Wer keine Sunset-Pool-Villa gebucht hat, sollte dies unbedingt dazu buchen. Es lohnt sich wirklich! Hier gibt es den besten Service, den Sie sich vorstellen können. Zu jeder Zeit aufmerksam, sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und wirklich mit ganzem Herzen dabei. Deshalb gab es für uns ab dem 3. Abend nichts Besseres. Wir sind begeistert vom Essen, dem Service und der Hingabe der Mitarbeiter. Nicht nur das Abendessen, sondern auch der Mittagstisch kann selbst verwöhnte Mäuler überzeugen. Die Portionen sind außerdem so riesig, dass man häufig kämpfen muss ... Ganz herzlichen Dank an Senthil und alle anderen des Club aus Service und Küche, die uns eine wunderbare und unvergessliche Zeit geschenkt haben. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder! Our family spent a wonderful 2-week holiday at Centara Grand Island Resort in October 2017. Although we were there at the end of the monsoon season, the weather was exceptionally good: some short rain showers only and a pleasant breeze with temperatures around 31 °C. We stayed in one of the Sunset Ocean Pool Villas, which was a very good decision: Enjoying the sunset in your own pool or snorkelling in the lagoon directly in front of your patio is a great experience. The villas are very spacious and absolutely clean. When returning after dinner, housekeeping had always been creative in a wonderful way and we could not wait to see how our son’s cuddly toy had been positioned on his bed. It was funny and heart-warming. Our beds were always lavishly decorated which gave us a very special „Welcome back“-feeling. Thank you very much to MODE, we really enjoyed our time there. The entire hotel complex is extremely clean and tidy. The sandy paths are cleaned and raked regularly so that you get the feeling of walking on cotton wool. The island itself is quite small, so all the facilities are well within reach. We never had the feeling of being crowded – on the contrary: it seemed as if we were sharing the island with just a handful of people. Sport and entertainment facilities offer a wide range of options: catamaran sailing, pedal boating, canoeing, banana boat rides, snorkelling tours. The guides from the sports centre do their job enthusiastically. They are always friendly and ready to help. This is something that we experienced first-hand during the whale shark trip the resort offers: when spotting these huge fish, the tour guides took our nine-year-old son aside in the water so that he could watch these great animals in their natural environment while „being seated in the first row“. He will definitely never forget this once-in-a-lifetime experience that you guys made real. Thank you, you are an awesome team! Also the guided snorkelling tours are led professionally and with a competent and personal touch. This time, we did not try the diving school, I’m afraid, but we got only good feedbacks from other guests. The hotel has four different restaurants: The Reef restaurant is a buffet restaurant. Here you can get international dishes – but with a strong Asian touch. It was okay for a quick lunch. Service was nothing to complain about, the staff was very attentive. We can also recommend the Thai restaurant. Especially, if you sit outside, there is a wonderful atmosphere in the shade. Food is very tasty and the attentive service personell leaves nothing to be desired. The Italian restaurant is particularly pleasant if the walls are pulled high so that a light breeze goes through the place. The service, however, is disappointing. The service personell are far from attentive, nothing like what we were used to from the other restaurants. The best at the end: As a guest in one of the Sunset Ocean Pool Villas, we were automatically part of „The Club“. If you are planning to go to Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa and you are not going to stay in the above mentioned accommocation, you should absolutely book it additionally. It is really worth the extra money! Here you will get the best service you can think of. Attentive, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic people there. That is why we went nowhere else from the 3rd evening. We were and still are impressed by the food, the service, the staff. Not only the dinner dishes but also everything we had for lunch can convince even „spoilt mouths“. The portions are so big that you have to fight ... A special thank you goes to Senthil and all the others from „The Club“- service or kitchen. You gave us a wonderful and unforgettable time. We promise to come back!
