Dear Mr. Andreas: First of all, I am very sorry for your dissatisfaction with the services we are providing in relation to protection against COVID-19 in this establishment, Club Hotel Drago Park. Respecting your opinion, allow me to present the following arguments to explain our procedures: • This hotel reopened on 01/07/2020 under the guidelines of the Contingency Plan required by current regulations and which is being supervised by the Health and Safety Committee. This Committee is chaired by me as director of the establishment and supervised by a third-party prevention service technician and an epidemiologist exclusively for this Contingency Plan and which we follow and apply with the utmost rigor. • Although it may be desirable to use the mask in any circumstance, whether or not the established legal distance of 1.5 meters is maintained, in the Canary Islands it was not mandatory to use it at this time in open or closed spaces provided that this distance can be guaranteed between people by the establishment by controlling the capacity conditions, establishing the distance between tables and diners and providing a service assisted by personnel who use respiratory protection, all conditions that the establishment applies and controls through its contingency plan against COVID-19. • This is not an obstacle for someone at a given time not to meet the minimum distance requirement from other people or to misuse the mask. As for approaching the buffets, I also want to remind you that COVID-19 is transmitted through the respiratory tract and not through the digestive tract, so our Health and Safety committee did not estimate the risk to food from people. • Masks are available to clients if they request them, and we can even force their use when we observe that the allowed capacity is being exceeded or that there is a client breaking the rules of "Good General Hygiene Practices". Obviously there may always be a person who unconsciously approaches another and does not respect the "Wait here / Wait here" sign, but in these cases it is our staff who is in charge of reminding them. We deeply appreciate your comments; We know that zero risk does not exist for any activity in life and in the face of this serious problem that affects us all, any opinion that helps us improve and reduce this risk is welcome. Although it is not legally mandatory, the management of the establishment recommends the use of the mask, at least in the buffet and other places where interpersonal distance cannot ALWAYS be guaranteed, but it is evident, from what you tell us, that the recommendations are not being enough. We take good note of your observation and we guarantee that we will take it seriously to look for alternatives to ensure better compliance by clients with it. However, we cannot share with you the assessment that in the establishment "we have no protection against COVID" because it is tremendously unfair and disproportionate. We are faced with a complex situation that moves between risks, obligations and rights of citizens in which shared responsibility plays a fundamental role. With them we want to guarantee health security by finding a balance between this and your goal of rest and tranquility without becoming the "Unforgettable Hospital of your Holidays". Please visit our website to see the new renovations of rooms, mini club, play ground and painting of the hotel that we are finishing at the moment. Remaining at your entire disposal for any questions, we greet you very kindly, The management.
