Dear Dorothea, Thank you for taking the time to post your review of Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort. I'm very sorry to learn that you didn't enjoy your stay and sorry as well that you didn't speak to me about your concerns while you were here. You say that our staff promised to take care of things but nothing changed, unfortunately you don't say what is was you were asking them to address. If you have a moment to write to me directly, I would very much appreciate understanding what the problems were to ensure that they don't remain an issue for other guests in the future. The restaurant seating area is not air conditioned as it's open air but the buffet area where you collect your food certainly is. The cold cuts, cheeses and butter additionally sit on refrigerated tops, as do salads and desserts to ensure they remain safe. A recent Thomas Cook Safety Inspection gave us very high marks for our hygiene practices. I'm not sure how you got the information that many guests were sick, but from our records, it simply isn't true. As we serve so many of our meals buffet style, it is of great concern that we be safe and as the management staff and supervisors also eat from the same buffet we also wish to remain healthy. We keep records of reported illnesses and show nothing unusual during February. We upgraded both the bandwidth and the hardware that handles our wifi this past year but are looking at further improvements this year. Although we will continuously improve whatever we can, please keep in mind that we are working with the infrastructure of an island that struggles with extreme poverty. Not everything works as well as it does in Europe, no matter how hard we work on the resort systems. Thank you once again for choosing Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort for your stay in Nungwi. Were you to be returning, I hope that you would contact me directly and give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves with a stay that exceeds your expectations. Kind regards, Kim Elizabeth Bird General Manager Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort
