Das Rathaus (City Hall), der Sitz der Stadt- und Regionalverwaltung von Halifax, liegt am nördlichen Ende des Platzes "Grand Parade" im historischen Zentrum der Stadt. Das dreistöckige Gebäude wurde zwischen 1887 und 1890 nach den Plänen von Edward Elliot aus rotem und cremefarbenen Sandstein errichtet. In der Mitte seiner Vorderfront hat es einen siebenstöckigen Uhrturm, dessen nach Norden zeigende Uhr permanent -als Erinnerung an den Zeitpunkt der großen Explosion vom 06.12.1917- die Uhrzeit 9:04 Uhr anzeigt. 1997 wurde das Gebäude zur National Historic Site of Canada erklärt.
