The hotel is located centrally (as long as you can say that about anything in Dubai, as even the distances between the main sights are enormous), as you can reach the closest metro station “Union” within five minutes. From there, it is only a short trip to the airport in the north. To the south, the Burj Kahlifa and the famous malls can be reached without a transfer. We used the Metro a lot due to the fact that the streets are pretty crowded. The hotel itself is a typical city hotel. Its design is ok and the furniture useful. The rooms looked nice, had VERY thin walls though. You could both hear what is going on in your neighbors’ room and in the hallway. Unfortunately, there were quite some people who liked to spend time in the hallway late at night. The bathrooms have been the biggest disappointment. Our family had two rooms and in both they looked the same: old and small. I’m wondering that nobody else in the previous reviews complained about that. Maybe we had just bad luck, but the bathrooms appeared to be at least five years old and never ever the “new and luxurious” as could be read in a brochure about the hotel that was laying in the hotel. Also disappointing has been the fact that the mineral water has not been offered for free (as a comparison: you can buy one and a half liter of it in the supermarket vis-à-vis that cost 1,40 dhs, which equal 30 cents). The rooftop-pool is nice, unfortunately it only offers six sun loungers, so spending a whole day at the pool is hardly possible (However, if anybody is planning to do so, a city hotel in general is the wrong choice). The staff has really been dedicated to help, but in too many cases was not able to help. They could hardly give any advice on touristy attractions. They for example did not even know that there is a monorail driving at the palm, but instead tried to sell a tour that “certainly offers the same as you are looking for”. Also the guys working in the restaurant could be better trained, how and when to clean a table. I don’t want to be understood wrong: Everybody is friendly and tries to do his job, in some cases it justs seems that nobody really told them, what is included in the job, as you know it from western European hotels. All in all, the stay for two nights in the hotel was ok. However, you should not be blinded by the fact that the hotel has got four stars – it’s not worth it.
