Nice family hotel with some limitations

Hotel Faber is a nice family-run hotel in Hoogezand, often visited by local families for dinner. As Hoogezand is a small town close to Groningen, it doesn't have lots of hotels, shopping facilites and shops and restaurants close early, so it's difficult to eat out or do anything after 9PM. Even in Hotel Faber you can't get dinner after 8:30 PM (however, they offered me some fish from the oven when I arrived back late). The menu includes seasonal local dishes too, I had a nice pumpkin soup and wild rabbit stew. The breakfast not very fancy but it was OK.

There are stairs going up to the first and second floor, I didn't see any elevators, therefore not highly recommended for disabled people. The hotel is generally clean, however, if you stay for a couple of days, there's no everyday cleaning (which is fine for me, but the spider I killed on the first day was still on the carpet 2 days after and it was a bit annoying). The staff is indeed very nice and helpful, you can feel the family atmosphere. I recommend the hotel if you have to spend some days in Hoogezand for business and you prefer to stay closer to the office/plant and not in Groningen.
