Familiar hotel in Dolomites

5,0/6
There are about 30 rooms on 4 floors. It is owned by a family since the 30s and it feels they really put their heart into this hotel and the restaurant which operates on the ground floor of the building.
During our stay there the hotel was fully booked. Majority of the guests were Italian, also some German and Austrian.
We were on half-board (breakfast and dinner) but guests can ask for full-board or only breakfast service as well.
The hotel is in a good condition, although it has a traditional style.

Lage & Umgebung5,0
The hotel is located in San Vito di Cadore village, which is about 10 km South from Cortina d'Ampezzo. It is located in a really beautiful area, surrounded by Dolomites mountain which is a great place for excursions during summer and skiing in winter.
There are shopping facilities in the center of San Vito di C. (about 2 km from the Hotel), there is a supermarket called Cooperativa, a fruit & vegetable shop, cafés and some other shops as well. It is worth to know that shops are usually closed in "siesta times" (from 1 p.m. to . 4 p.m).

Zimmer5,0
Our room was on the 1st floor. The room was really spacious and comfortable. We had a big double bed, plus an extra simple bed (we did not use it), 2 chairs, big cupboards in the ante-room, small TV mainly with Italian channels plus some German ones (Viva and MTV). We had a big balcony with a sun-bed and 2 plastic chairs and of course beautiful panorama to the mountains. There was no mini-bar in the room but we could freeze our drinks in the fridge of the hotel's pub. Because of the favorable climate of that area there is no need for air conditioning.
The bathroom was very clean and in good condition as well, with very big bath, bidet, big mirror, own window.

Service5,0
The whole staff was really friendly and helpful anytime even if we had some language difficulties as we don't speak Italian and they did not speak really good English. But is was not a problem for us at all! We had no complaints.
Our room was cleaned accurately every day.
There is a free parking area in front of the hotel for the guest.
Thee was a playroom for the children in the hotel as well.

Gastronomie6,0
Breakfast buffet was really delicious and diverse but consisted of mainly cold dishes. They offered only omelet/ scrambled eggs as hot dish.
There were several types of tea to drink and a coffee machine which prepared all types of coffee and chocolate drinks. They had 2 types of fruit juice as well (machine-maid). To eat they offered cereals, cornflakes, home made jams and marmalades, fresh yogurt, croissants with different fillings and at least 5-6 types of cakes (like chocolate, apple, cheese, apricot, sponge cake...), also ham, cheese and salami.
For dinner every evening we could choose from 3 different soups/starters and 3 main dishes and finally there was a dessert. They have a really great kitchen with local traditional specialties. We really enjoyed it. 1 big bottle of mineral water cost only 1 EUR.

Sport & Unterhaltung4,0
There are no special sport activities inside the hotel but there are a lot of leisure possibilities in the surroundings. There is a swimming pool and spa in Cortina. Also, there are several lakes in this area but the water is quite cold so people are not used to swim in them.
There is an Internet access in the hotel, 30 minutes cost 3 EUR.

Tipps & Empfehlung
We took excursions in the Dolomites and it was a great starting point for our trips. Most interesting places we visited:
- Misurina Lake, Col de Varda hut
- Auronzo hut, Lavaredo/ Tre Cime, Passo (Pass) Tre Croci
- Landro Lake
- Passo di Giau, Fedaia Lake and Pass
- Marmolada Glacier
- Falzarego Pass
- Monte Cristallo
- Earth pyramids in Percha
We tried to visit the castle in Brunico but the inner town was really crowded and did not find a parking place, so we left.
