Hotel Palms on the Ocean

Very beautiful hotel in colonial style, with big bamboo ceiling fans and candlelight everywhere in the evenings and live piano music. Very nice garden with pool, hammocks and bar. There's also a wedding gazebo. We arrived late in the evening and it was like waking up in paradise the next morning to be able to go directly to the beach.

Through the hotel garden you have direct access to the boardwalk and the beach, which is really great! There's a bus stop almost directly in front of the hotel, to go down South Beach you take one of the busses($1, 50) in the parallel street. If you like walking, you can take the boardwalk along the beach, it's really marvelous. Directly around the hotel there aren't many shops or restaurants, though. Better to go down to the Art Deco District or Ocean's Drive. Check out Wings for great t-shirts and other souvenirs!

When our cab from the airport pulled up in front of the hotel, our luggage was immidiately taken inside by the valets and a bellhop showed us the way to the lobby and waited to take our luggage up to the room. The concierges were very friendly and helpful.

There's a restaurant that looked very cosy and breakfast buffet but we didn't use it. In the lobby there's a small gift shop where you can get a snack and fresh tea/coffee

Room looked great and the Kingbed was really big. Pillows were kinda big/high which hurt my neck and they didn't have any others to offer. Bathroom is rather small but ok, enough towels, really nice bathrobes too. Hairdryer, Iron + board, Wifi for people who bring their laptops, other than that internet access only in the business room (and quite expensive) Individual airconditioning
